Items related to Overcoming Barriers

I tried to come up with some items with barriers that look similar to Bandura's. I am still not sure about these items but I will just share this... I only have 4 items for now, but this kind of format can be a possibility.


A number of situations are described below that can make it hard to collaborate with others. Please rate in each of the blanks on the column how certain you are that you can successfully collaborate with others.
Rate your degree of confidence by recording a number from 0 to 10 using the scale given below:

When there is disagreement or conflict

When there is a misunderstanding

When there is uncertainty

When there are power struggles in relationships

    I like that you used a different format than the rest of us. I can see its both positive and negative sides. The positive is definitely that this format seems much more readable for the reader + if we opt to use barrier-questions only, this is the best way to phrase them.

    However, I do see some problems with this format. Particularly, it excludes non-barrier questions (which we don't know if we're gonna put in yet) and doesn't distinguish between "I" and "We" components of collective efficacy. We can make two sections of such questions with different stems, such as:
    1) Please rate in each of the blanks on the column how certain you are that you can successfully collaborate with others.
    2) Please rate in each of the blanks on the column how certain you are that your group can successfully work together and achieve its goals when...

  2. I think we could have an overcoming barrier section that is separate from more general sections.

    To comment on your measures -- I think you did a great idea of coming up with some general obstacles when working with groups. This is a little specific, but I might change misunderstanding to miscommunication. I think that changing the word to miscommunication further differentiates that item from disagreement/conflict.

  3. Yes, this is an intriguing format. We should discuss this in depth in class and maybe try to settle on one if we haven't already?
